Initial consultation & site survey

Alex visits the property to meet you, and to gain a full understanding of your requirements and aspirations. Alex will conduct a careful evaluation of the site and surroundings, including testing the soil. For larger projects a surveyor will return to prepare a measured survey of the garden, on which all drawings are then based. For smaller projects Alex will complete the survey herself.

Concept drawings & IMAGE BOARDS

After the initial consultation and the survey, a budget is agreed for one or a number of conceptual drawings to illustrate different design ideas.  These drawings can be accompanied by image boards and / or elevation sketches and are intended to steer and inspire the design process in collaboration with you. 

After meeting to review the concept drawings and finalise the design, the next phase is to create a final Presentation Plan. This will show the overall layout of the space, with hard and soft landscaping indicated.  This is accompanied by any detailed working drawings required, such as construction detailing and lighting plans. These drawings inform the schedule of works.

The working drawings and schedule of works enable contractors to quote for the work.  Alex can work with your suggested contractor, or assist you in tender and appointment.  Alex will then support you as much as required throughout the build, and ensure the smooth running of the process.  This includes a number of site visits, and liaising with the contractor and any other specialists involved in the work.

These are detailed drawings, specifying all the plants in the design, including the species, variety, cultivar, sizes and any specific information. Planting image boards bring the planting design to life, and ensure you can visualise the effect.  Alex will work with her network of nurseries to source the plants, then oversee their delivery, exact placement and planting.

There is a final meeting to sign off the garden and discuss any plans for follow on work.  Alex can provide maintenance schedules, guidance for gardeners and any ongoing consulting required. Alex takes care to return to past projects and ensures they continue to evolve successfully.
